Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The first graders in my class are creative, enthusiastic, and engaged learners who thrive on hands-on activities. As Lunar New Year approaches, my students are excited to explore and learn more about this celebration! Each year, I introduce my students to various holidays celebrated by different cultures. I would love to dedicate a week to honoring Lunar New Year through crafts, art projects, food tastings, and presentations that delve into the significance of this holiday. This approach not only celebrates the event but also fosters cultural understanding among my students.

Using a variety of tools, including memorabilia, I hope to delve even further into the event this year and provide my students the opportunity to learn about its rich customs, celebrations, and cultural significance.

Through engaging books, they will learn about honoring ancestors, wishing for prosperity and good fortune, and the meaning behind various customs.

With the help of a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I can purchase interactive games and activities that align with the curriculum and meet grade-level expectations. These resources will not only enhance our learning experience but also make the celebration more memorable.

Additionally, this generous donation will allow me to provide prizes, and other rewards, motivating students and making the festivities even more special. They will also have the opportunity to help decorate the classroom with handmade crafts, fostering creativity and a deeper connection to the celebration.
