I teach technology during the school day and music after school. I manage the vocal rehearsals (solos and chorus) and we have two professional dance teachers who come to the school to teach the dance routines for our production. Since November, we have been in rehearsal for a show to be performed in May. The show is entitled, Legends of Entertainment, Gone But Not Forgotten.

Our school has no band or budget to hire musicians to play for the performances, so I rely on karaoke recordings, and percussion instruments that I can teach the students to play. We are honoring such artists as Isaac Hayes, Frank Sinatra, Celia Crews, Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross. There are several choreography segments as well. The drums will be essential for these.

We need some instruments to accompany the songs that the chorus is singing without karaoke, and for the African dance choreography.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to prepare a top quality musical performance, and learn a new instrument in the process. The djembe is a well know style of drum, however the wood ibo drum is an instrument that most children will not have seen before, let alone learn how to play. You will make it possible for my students to get needed exposure to an ancient art form, the playing of percussion instruments.
