Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love coming to school and are always eager to learn. The students in my school come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of needs. They are enthusiastic, caring, and full of life. My students thoroughly enjoy reading, especially series books!
I work in a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York, which means my students come from low-income homes.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though they face challenges, they are always striving to do their best.
My Project
During the school year, students spend a vast amount of time in school, in their classroom. As a teacher, I always want my students to feel like school is their second home. The materials in this project help make the classroom feel more like home than school.
The pillows and plants will be placed in the library, where all of the students book shop and enjoy comfortable reading time.
Many of my students have not attended school in person since March of 2020. Welcoming them back to a classroom that reminds them of home, will help them transition back into being in school full time again.
