Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, eager to learn new things, and they love moving around. My school is a Title I school. Many of our families qualify for free or reduced-rate lunches.

Our school promotes a positive learning environment for all students.

My students are so full of energy! They need to move, wiggle, and bounce in order to focus for 7 hours a day. We need some new classroom furniture in order to exchange our standard hard, plastic chairs with more flexible seating that will meet my students' needs.

My Project

The bar stools and the small desks will give my students personal space while feeling more like a home environment rather than a sterile classroom. The kids will be allowed to choose where they sit each day. This will encourage them to work hard and make good choices. Students enjoy having choice in the classroom. I would like to be able to offer them more choices with these items. My goal is for students to feel comfortable and relaxed when they are working. This way they are able to spend more of their energy focused on the task at hand rather than fidgeting at their assigned seat.
