This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our four-year-old preschool classroom is a child's first real-life experience within a school setting. Families are eligible through their income or other risk factors, such as having a single parent or the parent was a teenager when the child was born.
Our students are always eager to learn, soaking up learning like little sponges.
We offer them experiences with many hands-on activities such as play dough, painting, drawing, writing, riding bikes, music, and movement. This year because of Covid, we are learning virtually but we still need to use manipulatives for hands-on learning. Fine motor skills are so important at this age!!!
My Project
While we are still learning online this semester, our students could use some more materials to improve upon their learning and development.
Our families are working very hard to help us teach our preschoolers virtually and these supplies will help prepare these future kindergarteners.
We are asking for Kaplan's Getting Ready for Kindergarten literacy and math backpacks, playdough, messy mats and dough scissors to help our students prepare for kindergarten.
We know that these are challenging times and we want to supply our families with as many diverse materials as we can to help them succeed.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
