My Students

We are an elementary school located in Richmond, Virginia. Low-income families make up 97% of our population. Students are below the state averages in testing.

My students come from struggling households with primarily one parent or grandparent as the caregiver.

Many students not only struggle in the community but also in the classroom. My students need many resources and hands-on activities to give them the background knowledge to be able to learn on grade level. We are learning and growing every day.

My Project

My students need supplies they can use at school and also take home when needed. The supplies I have chosen will help students be prepared for all assignments. My students have limited resources and will greatly benefit from having everything they need to be successful for this school year. All supplies will be in string backpacks that can easily be transported from school to home and back again. We don’t know what this school year will look like, but we need to be prepared for this coming year by having students prepared.
