This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend an inner-city urban school. They are all in the free lunch program and also look forward to our free breakfast in the classroom. They are all learning English as a new language, and many struggle with meeting their grade level standards. Many parents lack the resources to help them at home, so our students rely heavily on all the materials and resources our school and teachers provide them. Many students do not have any crayons, pencils, scissors, or glue at home, Children's books are nonexistent at home. Despite these struggles, my students are so eager to learn. They come to school feeling safe and excited to learn. They look up to their teachers and look forward to coming every day,
My Project
We go to school every single weekday, for 180 days! So many days at school! Making the classroom environment fun and welcoming makes us all look forward to coming to class. As a teacher, walking into my beautiful room sparks joy. As a student, walking into a fun and bright room, sparks joy and those learning waves!!
A fun classroom environment makes each and every student feel welcome and look forward to coming to school.
I want my students to look forward to library time, so they can sit in a quiet and cozy corner and read on a carpet and flex seating. I want them to look forward to going outside for yard time, even though our yard might not be pretty, they have their fun jump ropes and equipment to play with!
