Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most educators feel their classroom of students are the best and greatest. Although I can't argue with their opinions, I happen to think that I have the best and greatest students on this planet. There isn't a day that I don't look forward to seeing their faces and seeing them develop in knowledge and wisdom before my eyes. I may be their teacher, but they teach me so many lessons each day as well. Currently, I am educating a set of curious, friendly, and resilient fourth grade students that are constantly excited about learning.

My students attend a Title I school located in the South Bronx in which 30% live in shelters.

Despite the obstacles they face on a daily basis, they are always eager to learn and never give up hope. As their teacher, I buy the majority of the materials they need to help them achieve their academic goals out of my own pocket because I want to provide them with the opportunities to learn and experience things they never imagined. I want to instill the joy that learning can bring regardless of the challenges within their own lives.

My Project

My students spend majority of their days inside our classroom. I believe it is important that my students learn and thrive in an environment that is enriching, engaging and peaceful. That is why I requested items that can provide my students with a home away from home atmosphere. Items I am requesting are a rug for our classroom's library area in which students can sit and read or students can lay on the rug with the inspirational pillows also requested until their heads. I included a floor lamp to place in the library area as well. Additionally items included are inspirational wall art, decorations tassels, automatic air freshers to keep the room fresh like flowers which will add to the five silk flowers presentation.

My goal is to make my classroom feel as much as home as possibly.
