Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the transformative experiences in my life was reading Night, by author Elie Wiesel. This book documents the horrors of the Holocaust and the need to never repeat it. I have developed a journal project whereby the students will read this transformative text and respond to it in a series of prompts in their journals. My deep hope for this project is that it will motivate students to always stand against Anti-Semitism.

Students will be able to keep this book as part of their Seminar course and they will also have supplies to annotate, journal, and reflect as we read the book together in class.

Further, we will be printing out posters that reflect key quotes that impacted them as well as touched their hearts. These activities will help synthesize the lessons from the book. This book will change students' lives in a profound manner and remind us of the need to always oppose hatred, discrimination, oppression, and inhumanity.
