Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am working to continuously build our supply of holiday/historic decorations that are inclusive and celebratory. The students love seeing different decorations go up each month. They also love to see their own cultures and identities reflected when we celebrate various history months. This creates a welcoming school environment, and fosters good attendance.

The majority of my students live below the poverty level.

We are a Title 1 school, and therefore cannot depend on the fundraising and event planning done by PTAs in wealthier districts. Donors Choose has provided me with the means to give my students all of these specials "extras" that they otherwise would go without.
