My Students

Our school is located in the inner city of Philadelphia. Our students come from many different backgrounds and are culturally diverse. Many of their families don't speak English, and they are here for the first time. The students strive for greatness and are motivated to learn. Our students enjoy a variety of different sports and enjoy physical activity. The students at PT respect one another and most importantly the students love school and are ready to learn no matter the circumstances.

My Project

All of our students want to learn to play different sports and hockey is one of them. Our gym does not have enough equipment to play a variety of sports. Students should have access to play multiple sports during their PE classes. The purpose of this project is to help introduce floor hockey into school systems. Within this unit students will learn about the type of equipment used in floor hockey, the basic concept of floor hockey, how the game is played, the various skills needed to play, some simple rules, principles, and team strategies. The goal is to introduce students to an exciting sport to play in a recreational format. Through floor hockey students will have the ability to maintain a good physical wellness by staying active and engaged, through intellectual wellness students will need to be open minded to new ideas and activities they never experienced before, through emotional wellness students will understand how to cope with the challenges the sport might have, and through moral wellness students will learn to obey and follow the rules of the sport.
