Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from many neighborhoods in New York City, and from many backgrounds. They are African-American, West Indian, West African, Latino, Central American, Asian, and Eastern European, among other nationalities and cultures. They are also a diverse group in terms of learning issues and gender identity.

My students are striving for a better future through their education.

Most will be the first person in the family to attend college. My students can be positively transformed each day with highly engaging educational experiences.

My Project

My students need high interest and high quality books and resources to deepen their knowledge of US History and Government. I am requesting American History Graphic Novels Set, Book Set of The American Experience and an Atlas of American History for my students to use while in class . We try to study history through images, primary source documents, as well as secondary texts. We engage in a hands-on projects such as in-class debates to bring history to life.

We have an actively engaged class with many student learning levels, and our students are from diverse backgrounds.

Our central idea is student engagement, and we really need high quality books in our classroom library to support our projects and help our students to succeed on their academic goals and prepare for college!
