This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are fifth graders who are super creative and love to learn. My goal each year is to enhance their learning experience. I want to do this through literature and art. I have many artistic students and many who love to read. I am gathering materials to run a book club and being more art into my classroom. Many do not have art supplies, but are extremely talented. I want to give them access to materials that will encourage them to pursue their artistic passion. I am sure this will enhance their school experience.
My Project
My students love to read, learn, draw and excellently express themselves about a variety of topics. This project will help me meet their passions. It is my desire to provide opportunities to read and learn history through historical fiction, and to express their experiences with history/the story through art. I believe our book club will be the catalyst to open our students’ minds to a higher level of learning and experiencing education. Intertwining art into everything we do is a way to reach all students and engage them in learning.
