My Students

Imagine an active group of learners that are full of energy and ready to move. You can hear the cheering and encouragement the students offer each other as they learn a new skill. These are the students in our school community. They enjoy working as a team to successfully complete tasks. Our active movers have a variety of different skills sets and abilities with their fine and gross motor skills. Our students come from an inner city school district that lack the funds to help our students strengthen those skills with materials that are engaging.

My students have requested for materials to interact with to improve their skills, such as a basketball net, cones, and activity balls.

They want to be imaginative and create games that promote staying active. When the students are interacting with their peers they are limited on materials to be imaginative and construct games to keep them active. Their positivity motivates them to keep moving and target their health at an early age.

My Project

Our little movers need materials to stay active throughout the school day. They have requested materials that they can interact with and stay active. They have requested balls and a basketball net to interact with that are age appropriate for them. Our little movers can work together as a team to complete tasks while enhancing their motor skills. They want to play basketball and to pass the ball to peers. They imagined creating their own obstacle courses. They will be enhancing their hand/ eye coordination, skipping, running, throwing and kicking skills with the materials for over 60 minutes a day. Most importantly, our little movers can strengthen their interaction with their peers while staying active. They can cheer on each other as they strengthen skills, make mistakes and actively move their body. All of these skills will promote active learners and team players.

My students are lacking the materials to stay active throughout the day that keep them engaged.

Their request allows them to be active and be a team player. They want to encourage their peers to stay active and fit by using their favorite games and creating new ones with the materials they have requested.
