Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This past June, I was officially hired as one of the special education teachers at my school. I am so happy and proud to start this new journey with my kids! I will be starting the next school year with first and second grade students in a self-contained classroom! I thought the items I selected would be a great addition to our classroom! Students will be able to use chair pockets to store their books and small belongings behind their chairs that they can easily access. The library bins will help to keep our books organized. Students will be using their new desktop helpers as visuals throughout the year for them to be able to refer back to when they need help! This upcoming school year, I wanted to create a more inclusive calming corner area in the classroom and I thought that adding some decor and tools would give students a sense of relief and an area where they could always go to when they need a break.

All these items that I chose I believe are tools and resources that students can start to use and learn from to become more independent first and second graders!

I have seen that providing students with a calm and loving environment will allow them to grow!
