Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students need to work in a classroom that is both engaging and inviting. They need to enjoy being in class. My goal is to create an atmosphere that fosters collaborative learning. Students in my classes need small group instruction, hands-on learning, and individualized practice in order to maintain an understanding of their lessons.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, many of whom go home to empty homes at the end of the day.

They need a class where they can truly feel at home and free to make mistakes and learn to work with others to achieve a common goal. Many of these students struggle in mathematics, and working closely with their peers will not only help foster a sense of learning, but also the buy-in they need in order to be successful in an algebra class.

My Project

At the moment, there are not enough tables on our campus for all classrooms. In a math class, students need the time to collaborate in order to fully grasp a conceptual understanding of their lessons. When you have desks that only allow a student one entry/exit, it makes it difficult for them to be put into groups.

By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

My students need the chance to be as successful as possible. By having tables, they have the opportunity to use the space they need to work together in an environment that fosters learning. They will be noticeably more engaged in their tasks.
