High School Student-Athletes Asking for Balls and Injury Prevention Equipment

We need balls to practice and resistance bands to build our strength, and to warm up to prevent injuries. The 11 Water Polo balls we asked for will be used to build shooting confidence.

About My Students

The students submitting this request are boys and girls who are on a High School Water Polo Team. These boys and girls that range from 9th-12th grade show their great commitment to the team and the sport showing up to practice at 5am and then having to find a way back to school from a pool we rent about 15 minutes away. The players are being to get competitive with schools in the area, but we are missing key workout supplies. We are doing fundraisers, but your donation would help us so we could use that money on team suits and apparel.

My student-athletes are constantly learning how to work with each other, how to take feedback in a positive way and how to be respectful to each other, as well as their opponents. They also learn that with the strain that sports have on their bodies, they need to take preventive measures like learning about what they can do to prevent injuries like stretches and balanced meals. The balls are going to help us to speed up practices and be able to take our practices to the next level. They will be able to learn more plays and get more shots off to build their skills and confidence.

In Their Own Words

We are trying to become stronger, smarter players. In order to do this we need equipment. Since we are a growing team, we do not have all the equipment our competition has, so this would really help us to stay competitive and learn more ways to play the game through experience.

We had to learn about our muscles work and why even though we think it is a waste of time, stretching is very important. At such a young age, we need to make sure we are protecting our bodies however we can so that we can have healthy and comfortable lives.

If our project is funded we will be able to learn new plays and do more drills so that we learn the game and be able to play it the proper way. Our stretch cords will help us to see that stretching will help us, and will help with our teammates that already have injuries.
