Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will make a huge positive difference for my students. I work in a community highly impacted by food scarcity, overcrowding and families that work two to three jobs to make ends meet. Many of my students experience food insecurity and feel hungry while in class. They experience a hard time focusing when they are hungry. The majority of students that I support are students with special learning needs as well as students that are alone in the country. Small supports like snacks and incentives will support my students in feeling motivated to continue their learning. When my students have their basic needs met they are more likely to succeed and feel more accomplished. When they feel successful they feel encouraged to continue working towards their academic and personal goals.
