Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher and my students will greatly benefit from the materials I have chosen. I picked activities as well as the supplies needed to perform these activities. I also picked rewards to further encourage their efforts. It is important that my students feel that they are in a caring, trusting safe environment. The books I chose will as help create that type of environment.

I have incoming freshman and starting a new school can be very challenging, so I want to give them the best possible chance to feel included and safe.

A lot of my students do not eat in the morning and lack energy. Providing them with snacks when they are hungry is something I have always done. My students do art activities every Monday which we call Mellow Mondays. On Fun Fridays we will engage in activities that I pull from the book in my cart.

The fidget toys come in handy for my students as well. Having these supplies on hand will alleviate a lot of pressure and help me create the calm, engaging and safe environment that I strive for.
