Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There is nothing like a good book! Unfortunately, my classroom library is lacking high-interest nonfiction texts for students of various reading levels.

My students are 4th and 5th graders with big dreams!

They love to read and are motivated to improve their reading skills. These ambitious kids have disabilities that challenge them, but does not stop them. We are a high-poverty school in the Bronx and do not have enough funds to purchase new books.

My Project

With these books all students in my class, no matter their reading ability, will have access to interesting nonfiction texts on at their level. My students will be able to use these as resources for their research projects on topics they are excited to find out more about.

This project will truly improve the reading life of my students.

Too often, the texts for low readers are written for children at younger ages, being boring and embarrassing for my students. These books will excite and encourage my students to read more, ultimately increasing their ability and love of reading!
