Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in one of the lowest income/highest poverty schools in our district our students face many obstacles. My goal is for my students to walk away understanding that education is the key to success in life and for college readiness. By preparing our learners academically and giving them access to experiences they would not have access to otherwise. We are molding positive contributors to our school community and the community outside of our district.

This year I am teaching a very bright, enthusiastic group of advance learners.

I am fortunate to understand that all students have the capacity to be GREAT thinkers and I want to work with them to help them discover their own love for learning. When our students love to learn teaching becomes much more organic within the classroom.

My students love to work together and bring such life and joy into the classroom each and every day. They come eager to learn, work on group projects, learn new things and come with the skills needed to be successful. I need rich, engaging and supportive resources to push my students to their fullest potential.

My Project

These books will enhance our classroom library by adding new, high interest literature to support student choice and show students the power of loving to read. My classroom library becomes a place in my room that students love and enjoy. When books are added to our library it brings about such excited and intrigue as students want to explore new stories, adventures and characters in their reading.

The 4th grade classroom library set will really interest my higher level readers this year as chapter books and series books are always of high interest to third graders.

With these new books students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level and at a topic of interest to them.
