Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am currently the literacy teacher for over 80, 4th and 5th graders. During the last two years, I was a reading intervention teacher for these same students. Two years ago many of these students were just learning their letter sounds. After 1-2 years of intensive phonics instruction, these same students are now able to read chapter books and are excited to read chapter books!

The book titles being requested are titles students are asking to read!

Part of our reading block includes independent reading. During this time students can select their own books to read. I only have a few books from each series for students and every day students are asking if a Dogman, or I Survived book has become available yet. They are so bummed when the books aren't available still.

This project would provide additional titles that students want to read! It would help prevent and reduce the large waitlists we have for popular titles that students want to read. Now that students can read, I want to provide them the titles they are interested in reading.
