This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Kobe Bryant is someone that my students look up to because of his basketball skills. He is someone I look up to because of his intellectual skills. The Mamba Mentality is a book that presents basketball as a skill that you can get better at through a growth mindset. I Am Malala is the autobiography of Malala Yousafzai. Malala shows a strength and perseverance that my students can learn from.
Strength, intelligence, and perseverance are strong topics.
These books provide real peoples accounts of these qualities and characteristics. More important than that, my students can look in the mirror and see someone that looks like the person they are reading about. There is great value in that.
