Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students attend a 2,900-student Title I (high-poverty) school in California where 66 percent of the students receive free lunch.

My students are a diverse group of motivated learners ranging from grades 9-12 who have experienced a high level of engagement and academic success when they have been involved in hands-on investigations in my biology and human physiology classes.

They are all members of our classroom Curi Corp bank account through MyKidsBank in which they earn Curi Cash for their hard work and collaboration. The reward is to be able to "buy" various prizes in a silent auction that occurs 5 times per year. The better the prizes, the higher the motivation to earn Curi Cash.
