Our high school is full of motivated, generous and hard-working students. Living in a state with a high percentage of obesity and poverty, our students are ready to change those numbers by educating the community about healthy eating while promoting community gardens and encouraging physical activity.
While striving to maintain good stewardship of the land, our students will focus on the conservation of resources and protecting the environment by making decisions that revolve around sustainability within our community.
Our students are dedicated to promoting agriculture in the classroom while encouraging others to make positive changes in the way we look at food and nutrition.
My Project
Students will be able to use these kits right in the field to see how sand, silt, and clay affect growth in the root zone. The procedures used during these experiments will allow them to separate the substances from the soil, determine their respective percentages in soil samples, and decode the results using the interpretation guide.
These supplies will help students gain a better awareness of environmental conditions in their area and in the world at large.
The physical makeup of soil, including nitrate, phosphate, potassium, chlorides, oil and microorganisms, is explored in How Clean Is the Soil? Thermal and sewage pollution also demonstrate how microorganisms and chemicals contribute to water pollution.
