My Project

Good organization helps a classroom function properly. Students know where their things belong and where to find visuals and guides when needed. Having students able to fulfill their own needs by obtaining the resources needed we are helping to build a sense of autonomy. Students are better able to navigate as well as obtain a sense of belonging within their own classroom. Great organization also helps to build a classroom with respect and responsibility. The storage bins will do just that. These storage bins will be placed around the room and filled with student resources, such as books, manipulatives, pencils and paper to name a few. The zippered pouches allow our students to keep individual "toolkits" needed for both math and reading. These "toolkits" are filled with the individualized needs of each student. Students are able to keep these pouches in their desks and utilize them when needed in order to further their own success and growth.

By donating to our project, you are not only helping to improve classroom structure, you are ultimately helping to increase our students' academic achievement and social/emotional growth.

My co-teacher and I have been in a co-taught classroom for many years. Our students are comprised of both general and special education students. Most of our students come low income households and depend greatly on the schools' and teacher's help and guidance for all materials and classroom necessities. Many of these necessities are fulfilled by my co-teacher and myself, yet, it leaves very little room for us to purchase classroom items such as storage, seating, etc.
