My Students

A typical day for the swimmers begins 3:30 where they do an hour of dry land followed by 2 hrs of swim practice. 6 days a week. 3 days a week the girls have a morning conditioning combined swim practice from 6 am to 7am. We would like our athletes to make qualifying times for the NYS meet.

The Varsity girls team ranges in age from 13 to 18.

We have a diverse population of students who attend a pre-k to 12 central school district. We graduate approximately 300 students per year. Our students strive for academic excellence and have consistently received the Academic Excellence Award (NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Award) given to a team that maintains a grade point average of 95 or higher throughout the season for the past several years. Our team is a cohesive group which spends much time in and out of the pool together. They have team building activities outside of their regular practice schedule and work together to support the community by volunteering their time for many worthy causes.

My Project

The specialized suits allow for better oxygen flow to the muscles, and hold the body in a more hydrodynamic position, while repelling water and increasing flexibility. These suits will help our swimmers to be more competitive at invitationals, sectionals and state meets. It also helps to increase the swimmers' confidence, as well as building team comraderie, by all members of the team wearing the same tech suit. These suits will also help our swimmers to make the necessary qualifying times for the NYSPHSAA Meet, while also allowing them to be more sought after by college scouts. Donations made will help to offset the cost of the supplies needed for our team. Due to the current budget cuts for schools in NYS my budget for the Varsity Swim Team has been cut to $600.00. As a result we rely heavily on donations made by community organizations, fundraisers and parents. Every year we need to buy the team their swimsuits (approximately 30), replace or purchase new warm ups, caps and fund an overnight trip to the Breast Cancer Invitational Meet in Upstate NY.
