Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a low socioeconomic background and have limited resources to use both in and out school. At the same time, my class is full of eager learners who enjoy experiencing new opportunities and using new technology in order to learn. Our school resources are limited and we are not provided with all necessary materials at all times because of the budget. These students are deserving of extra materials that are not provided by the school. Many of the materials and supplies needed for the classroom and students are bought by us, the teachers. Many of my students try very hard and are committed to their education; by donating to their cause it would help them to be successful learners.

My Project

We live in a diverse world and the books that are in a classroom should also be diverse and mirror the lives of the students! I would like more diverse books to add to my classroom library.

Talking about our experiences at a young age is critical to creating awareness and lasting change.

Books are one of the most effective and practical tools for starting these conversations. These books will bring excitement to my students as they read and learn about different experiences. These books will engage them as they reflect on their own experiences as well as the experiences of others.

I want my students to understand that while we may appear to have many differences, we do have a lot in common. These books will help my students connect with books and recognize that all people are unique and important in their own way.
