My Students

Music is such an important part of any classroom! Music can set the mood. Whether you want to calm the kids down, or tap into their energy, music is a great way to do that. Help us find our inner Mozart. My old, bulky Cd and tape player just is not doing the job any longer.

I teach 20 energetic third graders.

I teach at a Title 1 school, so most of my students are economically disadvantaged. In today's economy, the majority of my students can not afford a luxury item like an iPod touch. I would love to expose them to this technology. They would be so motivated by the opportunity to use an iPod touch.

My Project

Having an iPod touch in our classroom would be so exciting. We could use it in so many ways. First of all we would have easy access to all of the songs we need. I use classical music all of the time to set a calm mood. I also use upbeat, fun tunes to energize the learning environment. There are so many educational children's musical artists out there. I use songs to reinforce all kinds of skills like shapes, multiplication facts, parts of speech and so much more. We would be able to create playlists for units or themes. We would not have to waste time changing Cd's. We could also use our iPod touch to download some of the thousands of apps that are learning apps. What a motivator it would be to get to take the iPod to the small group table and practice a skill like multiplication. Finally, we could download audio books and use our iPod as a mobile listening center.

This project would excite and motivate students this year, and for years to come.
