My Project

I teach a K-2 STEM specials class once a week for fifty minutes per class. I am always trying to incorporate new technology. I recently went to a workshop where we made mazes for mechanical Hexbugs.

The Hexbugs vibrate and move around however students can control their movement by making a maze for them to follow.

The pizza boxes would be used to contain the maze and give the Hexbug room to move around.

In addition, I have included small rubber bands to make harmonicas out of craft sticks for first-grade sound standards and googly eyes to add to our whale research papers.

Lastly, I would like to add a few science nonfiction books that were recommended this year by the National Science Teacher's Association. I like to start most STEM lessons with a read aloud and I think my students will enjoy these books.
