My Project

My class is a diverse group of fourth graders who love sharing about their identities and learning about the contrasting experiences of others. Each month, we celebrate a different heritage or identity. For example, Hispanic & Latine heritage, Asian American & Pacific Islander heritage, American Indian & Native American heritage, Black heritage, and more.

These read aloud books will provide windows and mirrors for students to both see themselves represented and learn about cultural, racial, socioeconomic experiences different than their own.

In addition to learning about countries and geography related to each heritage or culture, my students learn about changemakers who identify with that particular group. I love integrating art or research projects so students can dive deeper! These read aloud books serve as a wonderful launching point for future learning related to each special heritage.
