Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In September I try to make my kindergarten room a fun and welcoming place where my students will begin their exciting journey of learning. My school is a Title I school. I teach an Inclusion program where my learners vary in skills and abilities. The neighborhood that I teach in was hit pretty hard by COVID-19. My students love to come to school, have fun and learn. They are excited by the tiniest things in our classroom, and make every day a great day in kindergarten.

My Project

It would be so wonderful to be able to provide my students with some of the supplies they will need for a successful beginning of the year. I hope to give them various materials for home and as well as school use to encourage their creativity and learning. I would also like to provide them with materials such as pencils, primary lined notebooks and sensory materials. I can't wait to see their faces light up when they get these materials. It would be an amazing way to start off the year.

These supplies will give my students the opportunity to have fun while they learn.

The class mailbox will give my students a sense of organization and independence. The Pop-Its provide sensory input which is so important for many children. The sight word books help to reinforce their reading and writing skills.

Kindergarten is one of the first steps toward life-long learning. It is so important to instill independence and organization in addition to creating good readers and writers. Accordingly, I have chosen different materials from Lakeshore Learning Store and Amazon that will enhance these skills.

I am so excited to see them grow throughout the year as they use these supplies.
