As a new teacher, I am always looking for new and exciting ways to bring music into the lives of my students. I love to bring new experiences to my students and watch them grow as musicians. My students live in a rural community in south-eastern West Virginia. Many families in this community are at or below the poverty line and resources for additional instruments are scarce. I would like to give my students as many opportunities as possible to create memories and positive musical experiences that will last a lifetime.
My Project
I am working toward creating a full Orff ensemble at my school. We currently do not have any soprano glockenspiels and I would love to add them to our room! My students love learning new "Orffestrations" and we would love to have more instruments available. By having more instruments, we would be able to increase the amount of student's being able to participate in each activity. I would love to have students begin to compose and perform their own "Orffestrations", and with more instruments available this idea will be able to come true! Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated!
