My Students

My students are deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deaf-blind. They have hearing loss ranging from mild to profound. My campus serves as the high school level Regional Day School Program for the Deaf in our area.

Students are bused in from surrounding school districts to receive specialized services such as deaf education teachers, an audiologist, speech pathologist, teacher of the visually impaired, and sign language interpreters.

Most of our students come from low-income households and many have limited access to language (spoken English or sign language) at home. It is imperative for our students to learn new skills in hands-on, visual ways!

My Project

The students in my classes are both learning virtually and in-person on campus; I teach both groups of students at the same time - live and virtually.

My Deaf students need access to Nearpod Platinum so they can engage in interactive lessons related to Daily Living Skills, Science, and work preparation classes.

When the pandemic hit and schools closed down, I used the free version often and my students loved it. However, we've run out of storage space for the lessons for all of my classes so we need Nearpod Platinum to access more storage. I will use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to download activities for my students, such as Boom Cards, specifically designed for my courses which will help to fulfill my students' IEP goals.

My students also need a few classroom basics since they're not allowed to share materials at all this year. I'm requesting personal material storage bags, refillable hand sanitizer bottles, and vinyl paper for them to personalize their bags/bottles. I'd like for the students to be able to make their own supplies kit to bring to their classes in order to stay safe.
