This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The Lady Tigers of CMIT Middle & High Schools are an amazing group of high achievers who work very hard both on the basketball court and in the classroom. A few examples…my middle schoolers won the Prince George's county Girls basketball for the first time this year. 10 of my high schoolers have made the Maryland All-State Academic team in the past 2 years! Given the opportunity, each young lady will continue reaching for new heights while learning to be a better teammate, leader and positive role model in the CMIT community.
My Project
As the 2018-19 basketball season approaches, the Lady Tigers are in desperate need of a Basketball Shooting Machine to open up the wonders of basketball to more students and to compete at the highest levels. Unfortunately, our athletics budgets at CMIT are not sufficient to cover our team expenses. In the past, much of the needed funds have come from parents and coaches. This year we are turning to the community extended family to obtain sufficient funds to get the shooting machine. It will allow current players to improve their shooting form and technique, while also instructing new players the right way from the get-go. Your help is greatly appreciated!
