My Students

Change is good! Yes, I said it, and I believe it! Change is good, and it is happening constantly in the world of education. Right now, the biggest change we can see is the use of technology in the classroom. No longer can students today simply use paperback books & worksheets to learn and grow.

Our students are a part of a close-knit, forward thinking community, where children love to learn and adults love to help teach.

This community, and our students, are constantly on the forefront of the education world. Teachers, staff, and students alike are growing and experimenting with today's resources to ensure the highest quality of education! We want to challenge our children, and our children love to be challenged! They constantly ask for new and different classroom experiences, and they are truly engaged while using technology and other 21st century learning techniques.

My Project

By incorporating a Nook into our classroom library, students from all different backgrounds can participate in hands-on digital reading of the 21st century. This single Nook is another positive step to introducing digital tools and resources to reinforce and promote learning. Books can now come to life in our own classroom, and story time can be transformed into an interactive, personalized experience, where students can choose to have text-to-voice "read out loud", or simply scroll and read each sentence at their own pace. To further individualize each students' experience with the Nook, each child can independently borrow books electronically from our public library. Finally, students can also customize their reading experience to fit their needs, from the size and color of the fonts, to even the font itself!

With our Smart Board, our 4 computers, and our 1 iPod touch, our class is headed in the right direction for technology integration.

It would be my dream for this to simply be the first of many new Nooks and other digital tools that can enhance each students' classroom reading experience. I would love to give my students a fun, new, and innovated opportunity to gain reading skills. Kids love new technology, & this single piece can be a fun, yet personalized reading experience in our classroom
