This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a school in Alabama where ninety percent of the students are on free or reduced lunch. I am now teaching my students on Google Classroom, and they have no choice except to work from home.
They have been working hard in my Google Classroom and I think they deserve a reward during these trying times.
I do not have an opportunity to see my students anymore and can't practice rewarding them on weekly basis. They ask me about their reward every week in our virtual meetings, and I have to tell them that we don't have snacks now. With these resources I would like to be able to surprise them with a snack bag full of snacks by the end of this school year. I will not hand snacks out to individual students but to everyone in the class. This school year will end the first week of June and I hope to have the items delivered by then.
My Project
Even though snacking has developed a “bad image” snacks can be an important part of your diet. They can provide energy in the middle of the day or when you exercise. Snacking is important for children because their smaller stomachs fill up fast and they burn energy quickly.
During the school day I offer my students fun snacks for excelling in the classroom.
Since they are sitting at home everyday, I would like to give them a fun snack pack. They are still coming to the school to drive through and pick up lunch, that’s a once a day meal. I would like to give them a snack sack.
When I have the next virtual meeting with my classrooms, I will tell my students to create a sign that simply says Ms. G. Williams. When they come through the lunch line with their parents, I can hand them a bag full of snacks.
