My first graders are still new to our education system. Their formative years were during the COVID years. COVID was a dark time for everyone. Out of COVID the students have had less stamina and focus as well as limited social interactions.
The materials that I am requesting are visual, and kinesthetic ways to support and boost their learning in the beginning years in elementary.
Materials range from board games, counting collections and magnetic base tens to practice social interaction and math, to organization of space to help ease anxiety.
The board game will be used to develop executive function, social interaction as well as mathematic concepts. The math tools such as the rekenrek, magnetic base tens and ten frame will help students to kinesthetically and visually understand math concepts. Lastly, the paper sorter will help us be organized in space by creating a mail station where all forms and papers are received.
