My Project

In order to learn how to become better readers, thinkers, and writers, my students need basic organizational supplies, such as folders and pencils, to ensure their success.

By using these materials and housing them in my classroom, students will be set up to maximize their learning by streamlining simple classroom procedures and enforcing solid organizational habits.

My students attend a low-income urban school in Philadelphia and hail from a variety of backgrounds, many of whom will be the first in their families to face the challenges of attending high school, college, and beyond. These supplies are needed to help create a space where basic educational needs are met and students are set up from the moment they enter the classroom to learn.

Long-term social change is enacted not by catchy political slogans or through committed educators, but through our youth engaging in school, reading cool books, and building a compassionate learning community.

Mr. Okamura Paul Robeson High School - Human Services Grades 9-12
