My Project

Seventy-five percent of my students have special needs like Down syndrome, autism, or genetic syndromes. They are globally delayed in all areas, especially in their cognitive, fine motor, and social skills. COVID-19 caused many issues for my students. Many of them stayed home because their parents were afraid of them getting sick and ending up in the hospital. At home, they spent a lot of time alone playing on iPads and other devices, so their parents could work remotely. We are all back together in school now, and the delays are very obvious. They do not understand how to think creatively or how to share and play calmly with peers. Most of them are receiving occupational therapy because they need to do more work with their hands to strengthen their fine motor skills.

I am requesting a Lakeshore Wooden Block Set and Wooden Vehicles Set for the children to build together in small groups.
