My Students

I am a teacher to 24 amazing third-graders with a lot of potential. When looking back at test scores from last year, the majority of my students fell really behind during the pandemic. Pre-Covid, most of them were flourishing in school, now they are trying to make up for what was lost. I believe it’s important to collaborate as parents and educators to ensure a safe and healthy in person learning environment where students can learn and grow to new heights!

In my classroom, my students are from all ethnicities and backgrounds.

Each come from a different family dynamic that influences them individually. Regardless of their socioeconomic background, each student is striving to be an excellent leader. They accomplish this by the following the seven habits of learning. These address their social and emotional needs by: putting first things first, being proactive, beginning everything they undertake with the end in mind, seeking first to understand, synergizing with their peers and teacher, building confidence with a win-win attitude and being well-rounded with extracurricular activities to support their learning.

My Project

These resources promote Nevada Academic Content Standards and fulfill a COVID-related learning need in my class by giving my students hands on manipulatives and games for the Mathematics standard 3.OA.A.3. Manipulatives were severely lacking during distance learning and they greatly aide in helping students understand math concepts. The flexible seating provide students with different seating options that I can use for my small groups while teaching ELA standards RI 3.1 RI 3.3, RL 3.1 and RL 3.3. In addition, I have a few students with special needs that will greatly benefit from the ability to "get their wiggles out" while still being seated and engaged in the lesson.

For social/emotional well being the light covers, and organizational furniture help create a sense of calm and routine structure that is so desperately needed at this time.

This fulfils the learning need in the subject of Health 3 1.1. Lastly, to reward hard work and effort in achieving student goals, these resources provide incentives as well.
