This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

The students in my classroom are students who come from a low income neighborhood with limited resources.

As with many children they have been greatly impacted by the pandemic and didn't have any resources. Many didn't have access to technology during the pandemic and have drastically lost a lot of valuable learning.

Our classes serve students with a range of disabilities. The students in my classroom are very bright and are able to succeed if they are provided with the proper materials to help them and get them more engaged. My students would benefit from the proper materials to help meet them at the level they are at now and to properly help us get to a second grade level.

My Project

These materials will help many of my students with sensory needs stay focused and on task during a lesson and independent work. My students who struggle to stay with the group during the lesson will have fidget tools to help them stay on task, focus and participate as well. My students who were greatly hit by the pandemic have lost so much instruction from Kindergarten that they are struggling with phonics. These materials are fun, interactive ways that they can learn but also make it fun at the same time.
