My Students

We are a sixth grade team of 80 students in suburban Pittsburgh, PA from a 4-6 building. The students love being the big fish in the small pond for a year before officially becoming middle schoolers. Everyone is excited to officially open the school's new STEAM room, Compass Studio, this fall. The STEAM concepts will also be integrated into many classroom lessons and activities. We love to read, problem solve, and collaborate. We take pride in our learning and work hard to prepare for the future.

My Project

"Helping Sixth Grade Feel Like Home" is a project intended to soften the look of the traditional classroom to allow students to feel more comfortable and at home.

Students spend more time at school than they do at home on a daily basis.

The light filters will soften the harsh fluorescent lights on student eyes. The filters will also help save student eyes from straining and eliminate glare on the large classroom whiteboards that take up two of the classroom walls.

The tension curtain rods will be used to cover classroom shelves with curtains. The classroom will feel more like home with the colorful curtains. The classroom supplies will be neatly hidden behind the curtains to not cause added distraction to the students. Thank you for your support of my students and classroom!
