My Students

As the only public K-2 school in my town, I reach many of the local students, urban and rural alike. We also have a growing population of English Language Learners. Art is one place these students can feel successful as art does not rely upon their developing English skills. Art is universal...across any age, race and culture, rich and poor.

Each of 600 students come to my classroom for art.

Ours is a Choice-Based Art Classroom, the students are the artists and the classroom is their studio. We discuss and try a variety of art making processes. My students are learning independence and choice-making, as well as, art.

My Project

Not all young artists have the ability to use scissors with precision and ease. The use of craft punches can help students with fine motor deficiencies create beautiful pictures using just paper, glue, and the punches.

All artist can benefit from these new craft punches to express their creativity.

I want to help artist of all ability levels succeed!

More advanced young artists can still benefit from the punches by cutting and manipulating the shapes to create more complex images. This can be a time saving technique that can allow the student to focus on the details of their artwork.
