My Students

Would you be excited to use a broken ruler, read a ripped book, or play a game missing pieces? This describes many of the materials in my classroom and most of my students have no interest in using such items of poor quality.

My students are active, creative learners in a classroom that is using the same materials that originally came with the room.

They are easily inspired by new concepts and deserve materials, manipulatives, and games that will promote and foster excitement in learning.

My Project

The selected materials will be used to promote math skills, reading skills, self expression, and class projects. The math games will certainly reinforce skills being taught in a way that is fun, yet solidifying. Helping kids practice basic math facts is a challenge in itself. Although there are tons of apps and websites available, there are not enough student computers in my room to access these resources. Brand new, yet traditional, board games with bright colors and fun characters will impact many more students at one time. Other items like the early chapter books are class favorites. However, there are only a few copies currently in my classroom so only a couple of students at a time can enjoy reading these books. With additional copies not will only will more students get to each from these series but they will get to explore the series even deeper by having the complete set. Our classroom mailbox system is broken and needs to be replaced. Student work is often misplaced or ripped.

My students have worked hard all year with the pencils, crayons, rulers, dry erase markers and puzzles I have available in the room.

They certainly deserve materials that are new and sturdy that will last more than a single school year.
