Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in one of the lowest income/high poverty areas of Southern California, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students' parents hope to provide them with the basic necessities, such as food, clothing, and shelter. With monetary constraints, the parents lack the opportunity to provide their children with 21st century technologies that build on the creativity and imaginations. These circumstances prevent them from learning 21st century skills that will prepare them for their future academic endeavors and make them college and career ready. As their teacher I want to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. From the minute they walk in to the classroom I focus on their potential and seek academic growth. By connecting students to the technological possibilities of today I hope to inspire even the youngest of learners to continue on their academic path of excellence.

My Project

My students need an iPad and Apple TV to enhance their learning and take them above and beyond the walls of their classroom. This will allow my students to have access to educational apps and the internet on a regular basis. I would like to cut the transitional time from one activity to the next. Without these two devices it takes several minutes to transition.

With these two devices I can create a hassle-free experience with little educational time loss.

In addition, we will be able to use these educational apps to take our learning to the next level. I would like to give students opportunities to express themselves using a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing. This could be in the form of a PowerPoint presentation or an audio/video book presentation. I'd like my students to take ownership of their classroom by also implementing educational apps, such as, class dojo. Students will be able to use the iPad to document their learning and share it with their classmates and parents.

The possibilities are endless. My students are 100% invested and engaged when I have a lesson that uses technology. With your help we will create life long learners and ensure future academic excellence.
