My Project

The average person needs at least 64 ounces of water a day. Yet some days go by where students (and staff) are drinking ZERO ounces. After learning about hydration in a life skills unit, my students took a pledge to change that. Students have committed to drinking at least 24 ounces of water per person per day in school. We have increased student independence by making filling their bottles a task they can do independently, working on communication skills by asking and answering how many ounces they drank, and working on math skills by adding up the ounces consumed.

Take my students to the next level by giving them clean, reliable, and reusable water bottles.

Up until now students have used old single-use bottles for a few days, or cheap bottles that are breaking. This small project will have a big impact as it will allow students to keep this hydration pledge going.

I can say from personal experience that this month has been the best one yet. The students are more alert, energized, working harder, and more focused. The same goes for the staff! Sometimes school is more than learning, it is about making sure students are at their best, and this will sure help.
