My Students

We have some of the most amazing students in our school! While many face some unbelievable challenges each and every day, my kids come to school ready to learn! We get excited about books, and it melts my heart whenever I hear "five more minutes!" when the reading bell goes off!

On any given day, you can walk into my classroom and feel the energy of learning in the room.

Hands are in the air, excited to read aloud or share. My kids are quick to offer each other feedback and support their peers. It really is a heart-warming sight to see the enthusiasm these kids have for learning!

My Project

We dedicate two periods every week to developing our reading lives, allowing students freedom in choosing the books that interest them.

We are developing voracious readers in our sixth grade - so we need books to keep their appetites (and interests!) filled!

Its only September and I already have kids reading their way through our library; they have favorite authors, new genres to love, and have a running list of "can we get" books! I am excited to see all of the academic growth my students are going to have this year because of the time they are dedicating to reading.
