Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a teacher at Liberty High School Academy for Newcomers, my students are all new to the country and learning English as well as all the other content required to graduate from NYS high school.

My students need classroom materials and snacks to help welcome them to the US.

These materials will be used for my SIFE students afterschool program. SIFE stands for Students with Interrupted/Inconsistent Formal Education. It's used to describe English Language Learners (ELLs) who have had interrupted schooling before arriving in the United States. Many of them are migrants who suffered severe trauma before beginning high school and would benefit from Social Emotional Learning materials and toys. I am also asking for snacks to help fight any food insecurity.

My students are all full of joy and eager to learn. Please help them on their journey to be community leaders and caring citizens!
