My Students

I love my students and my community! I have amazing students who are driven and always strive to succeed. These students exhibit a wide range of academic skills that demand a variety of ways to enhance their learning.

As a teacher, I try to provide engaging, rigorous, and differentiated activities every day.

These children are growing up in a fast-paced world and I want them to be prepared to keep up with these demands and acquire 21st century learning skills.

My Project

Too often we ask our students to write, without explicitly teaching them HOW. I would like to provide my students with explicit and systematic instruction in writing. The materials I'm asking for use an approach that is supported by research and is effective for all students. Even more interestingly, it is absolutely critical for those with learning disabilities such as dyslexia. Additionally, working on students' writing skills will greatly impact their reading skills.

Students need both direct instruction and deliberate practice to become effective and competent writers.

These materials will help me achieve this goal as I work with both my kindergarten students and my intervention groups of multiple ages. The "Student Writing Intensive Curriculum" as well as the grammar and spelling resource books will provide me with the explicit lessons I need. I'm also asking for binders, pencil pouches, and binder dividers to create writing notebooks of our own.
